This new home and guest house are sited with panoramic views above a 50 foot bluff in the shadow of Sankaty Light in Nantucket. The house is meant to be comfortable for a few or a hundred in a living room with a beautifully coffered wood ceiling, flanking soapstone fireplaces and custom detailed wood paneled walls. The project transcends time with soft tone paint selections, local antique lighting fixtures and reclaimed antique pine flooring. Interior spaces extend to the outdoors with extensive porches with bead board ceilings and mahoghany decking. The portions of the house that orient to the street are intentionally smaller in scale, reminiscent of Sconset charm, and provide an informal and friendly gesture to visitors and from the street. Exterior bluestone terraces are protected from prevailing winds providing intimate entertaining areas to view Nantucket Sound or gathering around the outdoor firepit.
